Sports Insoles
Maximise performance and minimise pain with sports insoles and orthotics.
What are sports insoles and orthotics?
Sports insoles and orthotics are shoe inserts designed to enhance athletic performance, provide support, and prevent injuries during physical activities. Unlike standard shoe insoles, sports orthotics are tailored to specific needs, offering precise cushioning, stability, and alignment correction.
Athletes and others who engage in regular physical activity may require sports insoles or orthotics to manage various conditions, reduce the risk of injury and optimise their physical performance.
How do sports orthotics work?
Sports orthotics are engineered to address biomechanical issues, absorb shock, and improve overall foot function. They work by filtering force signals through the shoe sole, insert, and foot surface, ultimately reducing muscle work. This can lead to better athletic performance.
Sports insoles and orthotics can help prevent common sports-related issues such as shin splints, tendonitis, and foot fatigue by improving shock absorption, correcting foot alignment, and providing targeted support.
Custom-made sports orthotics can be particularly beneficial for athletes with specific foot structures or biomechanical challenges and can reduce injury risk, enhance stability during quick movements, and potentially improve overall athletic performance.
How can sports insoles and orthotics help?
The type of orthotics you need will depend on your sport of choice. Those who engage in high impact sports are more likely to want shock-absorption qualities and while others may look for better metatarsal padding. Regardless of your chosen sport, there are some key advantages to opting for custom sports orthotics. They include:
- optimal support for your specific needs
- increased stability through the foot and ankle
- better shock absorption
- reduced stress and strain during running, jumping and complex movements
- reduced muscle work and fatigue
- correction of foot alignment

frequently asked questions
Custom sports orthotics are precisely crafted to fit an individual’s unique foot shape and address specific biomechanical issues. They offer superior support, durability, and effectiveness compared to over-the-counter sports insoles. Custom orthotics are designed to correct underlying problems and enhance performance, while over-the-counter sports insoles typically provide only general cushioning and basic arch support.
Potentially – but we can’t guarantee you’ll make the Olympic athletics team! Custom sports orthotics may improve athletic performance in several ways. They can enhance stability, reduce muscle fatigue, improve shock absorption, and optimise foot and leg alignment. This can lead to increased efficiency in movement, reduced risk of injuries, and potentially improved power output during sports activities.
Custom sports orthotics are designed to fit in a particular type of footwear to address a specific issue relating to your sport. If you require orthotics for daily use, talk to your podiatrist about your needs. It may be that the best option is to have orthotics for daily use, and separate sports orthotics reserved for physical activity.
It takes two weeks to get your orthotics to you. If there are any delays, your podiatrist will let you know at time of your appointment.
